Chair Rose reviewed competing estimates for the recreation roof and softball infield and said the building committee recommended an estimate that includes removing the entire old roof. She proposed rounding the preferred roof request to $17,000 and the softball-infield request to $13,000 for the commission’s CIP submission.
“We should change this to 17, which would change this number now to 13,” Rose said while explaining the recommended estimates; commissioners discussed using the town’s revolving fund to cover overruns if additional damage is discovered. Members emphasized the CIP process is not guaranteed to fund the full request and that final approval depends on the CIP meeting scheduled for Thursday.
The commission also debated lower-cost local contractor options for the infield and the need for professional work and proof of insurance if the selectmen prefer the professional estimate. Commissioners agreed to present the $17,000 and $13,000 requests at the CIP meeting and to provide photos and revised packet materials to the town administrator ahead of that session.
