The Lantana Town Council on July 27 voted unanimously to authorize the town attorney to sue the 3560 Condominium Association to remove an allegedly illegally constructed dock on South Ocean Boulevard.
Town Attorney Max Lohman told the council the action follows guidance agreed during a recent workshop and asked for a motion "to authorize the town attorney to file a lawsuit against the 3560 Condominium Association and any other parties necessary and prudent to effectuate the removal of the illegally constructed dock at 3560 Condominium and to pursue any other remedies available under the law." The council moved, seconded and approved the authorization 5–0.
Mayor (chair) confirmed the town attorney will proceed and keep the council informed of status. The town did not present litigation documents at the meeting; Lohman said the motion is intended to effectuate council direction from the prior workshop. The council provided no additional public-comment speakers on the item during the meeting.
The authorization is procedural and does not itself remove the structure; it gives the town attorney authority to initiate court proceedings and pursue remedies the law allows. Lohman said he will report back as the case develops.
