Council approves local dock rules for nonconforming residential docks in C-1 (O-08-2026)

On July 27 the Lantana Town Council adopted Ordinance O-08-2026 on second reading to create regulations for existing nonconforming residential docks in the C-1 commercial zoning district.

Development Services Director Nicole Dritz told the council the ordinance is a staff-initiated local solution that will affect a single property and "allow those property owners...to maintain, repair, reinforce, or improve for purposes of structural integrity, safety, or code compliance, their existing nonconforming dock." The planning commission recommended approval 5–0.

After no public comment, the council moved and adopted the ordinance on second reading; the vote was recorded as 5–0. Dritz thanked staff for a creative solution to the issue and councilmembers expressed support for allowing the property owner to address the nonconforming structure.
