Rep. Kay Christofferson says gas tax bill would cut 6¢ a gallon, reduce transportation fund by about $40M

Representative Kay Christofferson said in a weekly update that she supports a bill to cut the gas tax by 6¢ per gallon, and that the reduction would come out of the transportation fund.

"It's cutting 6¢ a get a gallon out of the gas tax," Christofferson said, and she characterized the change as a direct relief to citizens while acknowledging it will reduce transportation revenues. She estimated the reduction would translate to "like, a $40,000,000 benefit to the citizens." She also said the bill had passed through her committee and was moving through the House.

Christofferson framed the proposal as part of broader fiscal accountability efforts to lower taxes for residents.
