Lancaster County approves several personnel reclassifications to shore up operations

At its July 23 staff meeting the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners approved a set of personnel reclassifications across county departments intended to strengthen operational resiliency.

The Board approved a reclassification in the Clerk of the District Court to provide technical backup for court processing and mental health board functions; the change was described as absorbable within the department’s existing budget. The Board also approved converting an Administrative Services Officer position into a Records Operations Manager in the County Clerk’s office. Commissioners agreed the reorganization would remain budget neutral and give department heads flexibility to align responsibilities.

Dan Zieg, Chief Deputy County Attorney, presented a proposal to create a supervising attorney within the County Attorney’s child support division, which manages more than 8,800 cases with three attorneys, 14 paralegals and one office staff member. The Board approved the new classification and noted federal reimbursement would cover approximately two-thirds of the salary increase. Youth Services Director Brad Alexander also reviewed a proposal to separate two administrative leadership positions; the Board approved the change to address salary compression within existing budget resources.
