Commissioners share regional meeting takeaways, DEC updates and Kilpatrick court reminders

During the meeting’s reports section, Commissioners summarized takeaways from recent external meetings and conferences.

Chair Christa Yoakum reviewed highlights from the National Association of Counties conference and noted potential peer exchange support for a prenatal-to-three initiative. Commissioner Matt Schulte described site visits in Madison, WI, including adaptive reuse projects and Innovation Campus, and Commissioner Rick Vest said he and Vice Chair Chelsea Johnson met with Kilpatrick about court date text reminders and a Public Safety Assessment (PSA) program expected to be fully operational by Oct. 1. Vest also reported that Regional Center housing intended for individuals released on bail has been delayed and is now expected to open Oct. 1.
