City Engineer Danessa Chambers updated the Economic Development Zone Committee on downtown improvement work and procurement issues.
Mrs. Danessa Chambers, City Engineer, said signage work downtown has been completed and that planned plantings will occur in two phases because Florida Power & Light (FPL) will be performing work this fall. She reported that upgraded benches, trash cans and bike racks are being priced and will proceed through procurement. "With the pattern pavement project they only received one bid back because the pavement is in such bad shape. The bid that they received did not meet the specifications so staff elected not to move forward with it," Chambers said. She added staff will ask the paving company if they will do the crosswalks or otherwise rebid the project.
Chambers also said the traffic signal at 14th Avenue is awaiting approval of mast arms and that FPL confirmed scheduled work in August. There was no public comment on downtown projects during the meeting.
Staff will return with procurement timelines and any rebid schedules as needed.
