Finance staff reported the county's emergency purchases tied to the January 2026 winter storm and said the state auditor reviewed documentation and asked that purchases be clearly recorded across the meeting minutes.
Staff (speaker 5) listed individual emergency buys: a drawer light match for a safe room ($1,053.50), two 65-gallon U-line trash cans ($270), snacks ($616.30), a state-contract chainsaw ($1,050), biodiesel fuel ($839.40), miscellaneous Walmart items for the safe room ($218.78) and a fender repair on Unit Number 9110 for $8,367.00. Staff said they would spread the sole-source justifications and supporting documents across the minutes as the auditor requested.
The board voted to approve spreading the documentation across minutes and to include the purchases in the record, and staff said they would submit copies for the official record.
