SC State and USIU-Africa delegations present visiting doctoral students in Orangeburg

A representative of South Carolina State University told the council that 20–21 doctoral students and scholars from East Africa (Nairobi) were visiting Orangeburg for two weeks as part of an international exchange meant to promote experiential learning and strengthen ties between the university and the county.

"We have, 20, 21 students from the continent of Africa... They're visiting us for 2 weeks," the SC State representative said, emphasizing the value of international exposure for students. Timothy Okech, dean of the Chandaria School of Business at United States International University Africa (USIU-Africa), also introduced 21 doctoral candidates in business administration and outlined USIU-Africa's focus on transformative teaching, research and community engagement.

A visiting student, John McDungo, thanked Orangeburg for its hospitality during the group's visit. Council members received the delegations and expressed appreciation for the international partnership; the meeting did not record any formal county action tied to the visits.
