Board adopts ordinance to reclassify McFarland Drive as a collector road

At the meeting the board considered Ordinance 2026‑01, which would reclassify McFarland Drive from a local road to a collector road to address development constraints in older enterprise/industrial areas. A board member said the previous 2014 ordinance required enterprise properties to be on a collector or arterial road and that change had created practical barriers for redevelopment; reclassifying McFarland Drive will remove the need for variances in some cases and allow a proposed warehouse on a currently vacant lot to proceed without that hurdle.

A supervisor moved the ordinance and another seconded it; the board approved the reclassification by voice vote, motion carries 4–0. The board did not receive public comment on the item during the meeting.
