East Hempfield renews five-year emergency medical services agreement with Lifeline EMS at no municipal cost

Township staff told the board the existing agreement with Lifeline EMS (the company that assumed part of Susquehanna Valley EMS’s service area) expires July 31 and recommended renewal. Staff said the proposed agreement is five years in duration with a clause to extend based on future negotiations, and that the service is provided at no cost to the municipality.

A supervisor asked whether the township had sought competitive bids; staff said no RFP was issued because Lifeline is the current provider, the relationship has been satisfactory and the contract continues at no cost. Lifeline representatives (identified by staff as Keith McMinn and Dr. Nesbitt) were present at the meeting and will return to present any county dispatch changes if the board moves forward with proposed changes to county 9‑1‑1 dispatch protocol. The board voted to approve the agreement by voice vote, motion carries 4–0.
