Plum Run Trail construction advances; small petroleum-type residue found at Strode's Barn excavation

Rich Phifer, Director of Property & Recreation, told the Board that construction on the Plum Run Trail and Strode's Barn Heritage Center began in mid‑May and has generally remained on schedule. Site clearing is complete, the pedestrian bridge has been installed and concrete decking poured, and excavation around Strode's Barn is underway in preparation for the Heritage Center.

Mr. Phifer reported one unexpected issue: "a small area of petroleum-type residue discovered during excavation behind the barn." The material is being professionally tested to determine composition and appropriate remediation and disposal. He characterized a late‑August completion date as optimistic and said the Township now anticipates substantial completion this fall.
