Youth public comments: residents urge fixes to sidewalks, trash, building siting and stronger transit

Several youth and community participants used the public‑comment period to highlight neighborhood infrastructure and transit needs. Jan (District 5) asked the city to "renovate visibly ruined sidewalks so that people can easily take walks or runs without having to worry about having trouble getting around," while Carissa (District 5) flagged lifting sidewalks near Osage Drive and asked whether the city can help residents with yard upkeep.

Jesus (District 1) focused on public transit, saying many residents depend on buses but that some neighborhoods lack stops and buses are infrequent. He asked the city to partner with Monterey‑Salinas Transit to extend Route 41 and "add more bus stops where they are needed, increasing how often buses run on busy routes, extending Route 41 further into District 1," and to improve lighting and shelters at stops. These comments were delivered in the context of a youth‑led mock meeting and will be forwarded to staff for consideration.
