Commission asks staff to continue FDOT discussions on Lake and Lucerne and provide briefing

Commissioner Sarah Maliga asked staff to continue a previously directed conversation with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) about Lake and Lucerne avenues. Staff reported they had made contact with FDOT and suggested brief one-on-one conversations with each commissioner to explain the scope of FDOT’s work before staff asks FDOT to invest time in formal research.

Staff noted FDOT will perform a full assessment and emphasized that the city would likely need to discuss stormwater and maintenance responsibilities and potential tax impacts before pursuing major roadway transfers or projects. Commissioners agreed to receive the FDOT correspondence and a short briefing ahead of any formal FDOT engagement.
