Staff submitted Safe Streets and Roads grant; commission to ratify after-the-fact approval

Staff informed the commission that the city submitted an application for the Safe Streets and Roads grant because of submission deadlines that precluded prior commission approval. Jamie told the commission the grant had to be filed to meet the timetable and that final award acceptance could be declined later if commissioners choose not to accept it.

Commissioners thanked staff for filing on a tight deadline and expressed appreciation that they would have a chance to review details and decline awards if they find them inappropriate. The commission asked staff to present the grant paperwork and any implications at an upcoming meeting so commissioners could make an informed decision about acceptance.
