Tree Board votes to incorporate Homewoods recommendations into preferred tree list

The Tree Board voted to move forward with incorporating Homewoods' recommended tree list and visual layout into the village's preferred tree list. Chair moved to proceed and members voted by voice approval; no members voiced opposition.

Board members discussed species-level concerns, including reports of some fungal susceptibility and differences in mature heights. The Chair said he had forwarded the Homewoods recommendations to a local contractor (Justin Govert at Leo's) for comparison with the board's draft and proposed using Homewoods' color-chart visuals to make the list easier for residents to use. "I will make a motion to move forward with it," the Chair said before calling the vote.

The motion requested Mr. Titus to take the lead incorporating the Homewoods plan and return a revised draft for distribution to the board for comment. Committee members noted specific species they wanted to confirm — the ginkgo was confirmed present and baldcypress appeared under the medium category — and flagged fungus and height differences as items staff should review before finalizing recommendations.

The board approved the motion by voice vote; the Chair announced the motion carried and the item will be brought back for the board's next review.
