Committee hears park tour findings; adaptive swing and bench replacements highlighted

Committee members reviewed findings from a recent park tour and identified a set of maintenance priorities for inclusion in future work plans.

Members praised Camp Lake Park for its equipment but noted weed and mulch needs at other sites. One member raised concern that an adaptive swing had a tamper-proof bolt partly loosened; volunteers temporarily tightened it but recommended a tamper-proof fix. "There was a screw that was undone on 1 of the u bolts...we tightened it, but we couldn't tighten it all," a committee member said, urging staff to secure the unit. Members also discussed replacing worn benches and noted budget constraints: staff said roughly $50,000 in parts is available and recommended focusing on full replacement at one park each year rather than spreading funds thinly across many sites.

The committee asked that staff provide regular maintenance reports to the committee and to prioritize repairs that address safety concerns and high-use facilities.
