The board’s curriculum instruction committee outlined proposed expansions to career and technical education at Franklin High School, including plans for diesel and truck service technology, electrical and electronic systems, and welding and fabrication technology.
Erica (speaker 8), chairing the curriculum report, said the board discussed CTE Perkins grant opportunities and plans for a CTE junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program beginning in September 2027 under a memorandum of agreement with the U.S. Army. Erica also described a separate memorandum of agreement with Lincoln Technical Institute that would make CTE courses available to eligible Franklin High School and Road to Success students.
The committee also reviewed an emergency plan for virtual or remote instruction and scheduled related approvals. The items were presented for the board’s consideration and included in the meeting packet for forthcoming approvals.
