Board adopts amendment to Ordinance 32.1 (Highway Regulatory Act) to strengthen enforcement

The Town of Jackson Board voted to adopt an amendment to Ordinance 32.1 (Highway Regulatory Act) at its July 14 meeting to clarify enforcement authority for highway and traffic-related offenses.

Town Attorney Haley Major Green introduced the amendment, explaining it was intended to enable enforcement of laws enacted under the Highway Regulatory Act and other traffic laws. David Guillory moved to adopt the amended ordinance and Mitch Harrell seconded; the board recorded no opposition.

The board’s action formally updates local ordinance language to align with stated enforcement needs. The minutes record the adoption but do not include text of the amendment; the town attorney is expected to publish the ordinance language and effective date in the municipal code.
