The Christian County Commission on July 16 named the county Highway Department its employee team of the quarter for the unit wide response to severe spring and summer storms.
Presiding Commissioner Lynn Morris read the recognition, saying the department "responded to more than 45 reports of trees blocking roadways, numerous road closures due to high water, and extensive post-storm pavement and grading repairs" and logged "more than 240 hours of overtime." Morris said that crews often answered calls between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. and praised their willingness to work under "challenging conditions."
The commission presented a certificate to department staff and said the county will follow up with refreshments and an additional recognition next Monday. No formal action was required; the recognition was ceremonial.
