Commission approves one-year renewals with Quill and Staples for office supplies

Purchasing staff recommended that the commission renew two countywide office-supplies contracts (ITB 2023-16) with Quill and Staples for one year and the commission approved the renewal.

The presenter said Quill requested a 3% price increase and Staples a 4% increase for the renewal year; she recommended approval to bridge the county until it can re-bid the contract in roughly six months. Commissioners asked how vendor increases are calculated and learned staff used a market-basket approach based on the top items purchased to judge competitiveness.

A motion to approve ITB 2023-16 was made and seconded; the commission voted by voice to approve the renewals. Staff said this will be the last renewal before conducting a new bid process.
