Jefferson police report, street operations and parks updates reviewed by council

The council reviewed a written report from Police Chief Dustin Sharkey that listed enforcement activity since the previous meeting, including nine verbal traffic warnings, three written warnings, one traffic citation, three agency assists with Union County, and two suspicious-person calls. The minutes note the city Ford is scheduled to go to Don Groves for lights and a cage on Jan. 20.

Street Department work was summarized as routine: a fixed snow blower, sanding roads and moving snow. Council Member M. LaFleur asked about dips in North 3rd Street; Street Superintendent Dustin Sharkey said the dips were caused by sewer taps at 210 and 214 North 3rd Street and that the dip at 214 aids drainage and does not present an issue when pushing snow. Parks staff reported installing battery tenders on mowers and removing holiday lights. Water and wastewater operations were recorded as normal.
