The Jefferson City Council reviewed the city’s annual insurance renewal on Feb. 3 as Jensen Insurance representative Brad Antonson presented changes in coverages and premiums. Antonson told the council property insurance costs rose about 8.6 percent because inflation has increased replacement costs for buildings and equipment. The review covered property, liability, crime/fidelity, inland marine, automobile, umbrella, cyber solutions and law enforcement coverage.
Antonson said EMC initially indicated it would not renew coverage for the Community Center roof because the roof age was listed as more than 35 years. Finance Officer Michaeleen Roark arranged inspections by Dave’s Roofing of the community center, city hall and city garage; the roofing report judged all three roofs to be in good shape. After that inspection, EMC rescinded the non-renewal and the Community Center roof remained insured. The council noted the city, the fire department and the ambulance department each pay their share of the annual premium. The council thanked Antonson for the review.
