Mayor Randall Sasser presented the Public Works report, saying crews repaired a broken water line on Gerald's Road and completed a larger repair near the new church on Mossyrock Avenue. He told the council the crew "coordinated with Ecology, placing absorbent socks around all drains to contain the spill and prevent diesel from entering the storm drains," and that supplies have been restocked to 90 socks to ensure preparedness.
Sasser said the diesel trail ran from the county park through parts of town, including Williams and Highway 12, and out to Pan American and Wilson Road, and that the source of the spill remains unknown. He emphasized that residents should take care with automotive fluids because any spill can potentially contaminate Klickitat Creek and the lake. The report also noted routine maintenance work: clearing reservoir overflow paths, road patching and storm-drain cleaning.
