Ryland Miller, CEO of the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, updated the commission on the Make My Move relocation program and recommended pursuing a second grant phase. Miller said the program has moved eight of the ten target households so far, representing 27 people including 12 children, and reported marketing reach of about 140,000 unique impressions and more than 500 applications.
Miller described the grant as roughly $145,000 in total funds (an 80/20 grant) and said the city contributed $25,000 for phase 1; he stated that the local cash ask for phase 2 would be only marginally higher—“a little bit more than $26,000”—while scaling the move goal to about 15 households. “We’ve actually moved 8 of the 10,” Miller said. Commissioners praised the results and staff signaled the city has earmarked funds in the budget for a potential phase 2 application; no formal action was taken at this meeting.
