Board approves personnel recommendations, consent agenda items and committee appointments

At the July 23 meeting trustees approved a slate of consent agenda items and personnel recommendations. The board approved the employment recommendation to appoint Sandy Garza as executive director of human resources for the 2026–27 year; Garza spoke briefly and thanked the board for the opportunity to return to the district.

The board recognized Shaina Lamas, previously named principal of Betty Perot Elementary School at the June 11 meeting, and heard her remarks accepting the position and thanking the district community. Trustees also approved routine purchases and budget amendments as presented.

Later in the meeting the board approved creation of a trustee‑only subcommittee (Randy Campbell and Heather Washington) to review district properties not yet deemed excess and report back with options. Trustees emphasized the subcommittee will only make recommendations to the full board; no final actions will be taken without full board review. Multiple personnel and contract renewals were approved by recorded unanimous votes throughout the meeting.
