Administrators introduced a large cohort of new teachers at the July 23 meeting as Lenoir City prepares for the upcoming school year. Staff said most hires bring prior experience from other districts, and principals welcomed the new educators who will join classrooms and specialized programs.
Several new hires introduced themselves to the board. “My name is Nate Downey. I’m teaching music at the elementary school,” said one new teacher. Others who identified their assignments included Abby Chapman (elementary speech therapist), Hannah Ray (elementary art teacher), Denise Alonza (first grade), Josh Brown (school psychologist) and multiple intermediate- and high-school teachers named to subject-area roles.
Administrators noted that some hires were internal promotions or local hires, and the board offered a welcome. No personnel votes were required; these were introductions and informational acknowledgments ahead of teachers reporting back the week before students return.
