Select Board delays signing town warning pending VLCT insurance numbers

The Town of Lester select board agreed not to sign the town warning on the night’s agenda after staff said final insurance and assessment figures from the Vermont League of Cities and Towns (VLCT) had not arrived. Chair (speaker 1) opened the discussion and Julie Ireland, who presented the budget update, told the board, “So currently, as it sits right this moment, we're at point 23%.”

Ireland said the figure would rise slightly once VLCT numbers arrive and reiterated that legal fees will remain at $3,000. With the missing VLCT data, the board agreed to recess to a date certain to reconvene briefly and finalize the warning once the figures are received. The board discussed reconvening next Monday or Thursday for a short session to sign the documents; logistics and availability were left to staff and the chair to coordinate.

The action leaves the draft warning incomplete and the board will not move forward with formal voter notification until the VLCT insurance assessments are inserted into the final budget figures. Chair closed the item by scheduling a short date‑certain recess to complete the signing when staff can supply the outstanding numbers.
