During the budget review, Julie Ireland read petitioned article language and told the board the items will be separate ballot questions. She said, “shall the voters of the town of Lester appropriate 1000 dollar to Charterhouse Coalition for program related costs associated with operations of its emergency shelter, food program, and social services in accordance with 24 b s a 26 90 91.”
Ireland also described an additional article: “shall the voters of the town of Lester approve an additional 20,000 for approximately 25 additional hours of sheriff patrols focusing on traffic enforcement.” Board members confirmed those petitioned articles will be presented to voters by Australian ballot and treated separately from the general warnings once the final budget figures are set.
The board did not vote on either article at this meeting; staff flagged them as petitioned items that must be placed on the warning and presented to voters when the warning is signed.
