Local clergy lead invocation at Townsend 250th, call for unity and renewal

Clergy leading the program offered invocations that tied spiritual themes to the town's commemoration, asking for restoration, reconciliation and wisdom for leaders. One prayer included the line, "Lord, for 250 years, you've experienced your abundant grace, both in our town and in our countries," and closed with "Amen." (prayer as read).

Pastor Ron Sylvester, who identified himself as a teacher and pastor at First Baptist Church in West Johnson, read passages from Exodus, Isaiah and Corinthians linking spiritual freedom to the townspeople's historical choice for independence. The invocations framed the reenactment as both a civic and spiritual remembrance, asking attendees to "stand firm" and to "serve one another humbly in love."
