Regional stroke program reports patient counts, urges clearer scene documentation

The Mid-Central Michigan MCA advisory board received stroke-program updates on July 16, 2026, including patient counts from three area facilities and guidance on clinical documentation. Jennifer Mast of the MyMichigan stroke program reported that Alma recorded 32 stroke patients (21 arrivals via EMS and 3 TNK administrations), Clare recorded 26 stroke patients (14 from EMS, 0 TNK administrations) and Mt. Pleasant recorded 15 stroke patients (4 from EMS, 0 TNK administrations).

Mast said FAST-ED is “the most recommended stroke scale” for the region, and she emphasized that providers should record reasons for any on-scene delays to ensure accurate reporting. The board discussed run-report completeness and continuing work to resolve missing data in reports; no formal policy change or vote was recorded during the meeting. The advisory board noted the items for follow-up at the next standing meeting on October 15, 2026.
