The Preston County Board of Education voted unanimously to schedule a special meeting on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at 1 p.m. The meeting will focus on personnel agendas and include a presentation by a representative from Kanawha County Schools about their virtual education program and consideration of a memorandum of understanding between the two districts for virtual education services in the 2027 academic year.
Superintendent Martin said the daytime time was requested so a Kanawha representative would not have to travel late at night or require overnight accommodations. "We would only have personnel items, the presentation by Connell County, and consideration of the MOU," he said, noting the goal is to keep the agenda focused. The board approved the special meeting 5–0 and Superintendent Martin committed to sending agenda materials and slides in advance for members who cannot attend in person.
