At the July 24 meeting the Preston County Board of Education approved a set of purchase orders and blanket amounts required under policy 8,200. The largest items on the list were a $1,249,276 blanket amount to Mon Power for district electricity and a $618,234 payment to the State Board of Risk Insurance for auto, general liability, property and cyber coverage.
Other approved blanket purchase orders included $150,255 to Kingwood Water Works for water/garbage/sewer service, $128,000 to Mountaineer Gas Specialty for natural gas, $180,000 to Stock Enterprise Inc. for fuel, and $100,000 each to Healthy Kids Inc. and Gordon Food Service Inc. for summer food programming and supplies. Superintendent Martin noted blanket amounts are estimates based on prior-year usage and that purchase orders would be reissued if amounts are exceeded. The board approved the purchase orders by roll-call vote 5–0.
