County highlights parks, pier reopening and a 1,000-backpack giveaway

Highlights included the recent opening of the Riverside Cafe and Grill at Escatapah Hollow Park, the reopening of Cedar Point Pier at noon following Tropical Storm Bertha, recognition of July as Park and Recreation Month, and an upcoming kids day at the Tillman's Corner Community Center where 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies will be given away.

Staff encouraged residents to consult the Mobile County community calendar and the county’s social-media channels for details about events, free haircuts, festivals, and family activities this summer. Commissioners thanked staff for the updates, and the Chair closed the meeting with scheduling remarks and a brief birthday acknowledgement.
