Lawmaker urges sponsor to bring empirical data and stakeholder briefings before vote

During questioning members repeatedly pressed Representative Cantrell for empirical evidence and broader stakeholder outreach. One member asked the sponsor to "come back to this body with empirical data" on sample size, energy savings, and outreach to military, Georgia Power, railroads and airports.

Cantrell said he had relied on multiple studies and stakeholder conversations, that teachers' groups and the Georgia Farm Bureau supported ending the clock change, and that he would be willing to provide the committee with the research citations. The committee debated but ultimately proceeded with a do-pass voice vote rather than tabling the bill pending a formal data-reporting requirement.
