At the July 23 Board of Assessors meeting at City Hall, property owner Susan Dieker told the board she purchased unit 40 at 738 Weirs Blvd. about a year ago and disputed the most recent assessment. "The property was purchased approximately 1 year ago," Dieker said, and she told members the assessment increased "from $495,000 to $648,000" for the 2024–2025 period. She submitted sales the appraiser used in her financing appraisal and offered comparables from units 38 and 39 in her complex.
Staff member Steve Hamilton questioned details about the unit's below-grade areas and the porch finish and confirmed the unit has a detached garage. After that exchange the board closed the public hearing and instructed staff to call and schedule an inspection of Ms. Dieker's unit to verify the listing data. The inspection is the next procedural step; no vote on an abatement was recorded at the meeting. The board's next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 20, 2026.
