Dunes City reports modest population growth in latest estimate

Chair reported the state's population estimate for the end of 2025, saying the city had grown by roughly eight people and five housing units in the last year. Councilors noted the difference between housing-unit counts and population and discussed primary-residence rules used by the state for counting, such as driver's license and voter registration addresses.

Councilors said the community’s average household size is small, referencing an estimate near 1.78 to 2.1 people per household, and noted that many seasonal/second homes affect housing-unit counts versus permanent-resident counts. No action was required; council accepted the informational report.
