Council approves audiovisual upgrade to restore meeting audio, Zoom and TV displays

City staff presented a proposal to upgrade the council chambers’ audio-visual system and said the recommended package would restore reliable Zoom streaming and TV display and include surge protection, battery backup and additional high-definition microphones.

"Innovative Solutions is the company. They came in and checked things out for us," a staff speaker said, describing components that would protect the system from lightning and provide backup power. After the item was included in the consent agenda, staff said they would call the vendor to schedule installation and training: "Once you guys vote, we'll call them and set it up," the staff member told the board.

Board members confirmed the equipment had been included in the consent agenda and did not request additional changes during the meeting. Staff said the package would make remote-participation audio clearer for public commenters and would include training for staff once the vendor schedules the work.
