Property owner offers land at 401 Bridge Street in exchange for utilities work and easement access

Gary, the owner of the parcel at 401 Bridge Street, told the commission he is willing to host the pump station and laid out a set of conditions and requests tied to that offer, including a preference that the commission accept an easement rather than an outright deed and that he be allowed to maintain the old 50-by-50-foot pump station site after removal.

Gary described the site as having a "little granite foundation" and said he would like involvement in early conceptual design so above-ground elements do not harm the view to the Round Church. He asked that, after removal, the current 50-by-50 site be conveyed or otherwise made available so "we can maintain it as part of the lawn that we maintain." Commissioners said deed research, potential reversion clauses, and which board must approve a transfer (select board vs. water commission) must be clarified before any transfer.

Commissioners discussed treating the transfer as a trade (cash and/or documented cost offsets) and asked Gary to provide written confirmation of his conditions; they also asked staff to produce cost estimates so the town can compare monetary compensation versus work/value to be provided by the property owner.
