Putney authorizes RFP for advanced metering infrastructure for town water accounts

The Selectboard authorized the Town Manager to issue a request for proposals to replace the town’s handheld water meter reading system with an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system. The minutes state Putney provides water service to approximately 120 residential and commercial accounts; AMI meters would provide hourly updates, support leak detection, and integrate with the town’s NEMRC billing software. The board instructed the Town Manager to solicit bids on a reasonable schedule and noted that any capital cost could be passed through to rates depending on pricing.

The minutes also mentioned smart hydrants as a possible tool to identify systemic leaks. Aileen Tulloch moved to authorize the Town Manager to solicit RFPs and Rebecca "Bex" Slattery seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
