Town Manager reports legal reviews, paving plans, library committee and facilities work

Town Manager Karen Astley reported the Town has consulted an attorney at Monahan Safar about two properties that may require opening estates or other legal recourse for back taxes dating to 2011; the attorney is also reviewing the Town Manager’s expired contract. Tax-sale actions will be brought to a future Selectboard meeting.

Astley said the Putney Coop entrance has potholes and nearby culverts needing repair; VTrans confirmed the entrance is not in the Town right-of-way, and Astley hopes to coordinate paving of the entrance in August at the Coop’s cost when Carol Brown Way and Alice Holway Drive are paved. She reported a July 13 meeting with Forest for Learning staff and the Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation to address a land easement conflict, formation of a Library Steering Committee to update a Memorandum of Understanding relating to capital improvements (Rebecca "Bex" Slattery volunteered to serve), and that the Town Hall roof would be inspected July 9 for a persistent leak (with anticipated early-morning noise and parking restrictions on the north side). The pedestrian safety grant advisory group is seeking members and has meetings scheduled for July 20 and August 5; Rebecca "Bex" Slattery volunteered to attend on behalf of the Selectboard.

No formal actions were recorded on these items at the July 8 meeting beyond formation of the steering committee and scheduling of meetings.
