Commissioners plan budget workshops and flag possible special meeting for juvenile detention grant submission

Commissioners used the July 16 meeting to coordinate schedules for upcoming budget work and to identify potential special-meeting needs.

A commissioner proposed recurring Tuesday 10:30 a.m. workshops to continue budget discussions between regular meetings. Commissioners discussed travel plans and noted that scheduling conflicts could require changing regular meeting dates in August.

Commissioners also flagged a Southwest juvenile detention item that requires legal review and possible action: "They need it by the 24th so they can submit on the 27th," a commissioner said, and staff confirmed legal and commissioners' review timelines may make a special meeting necessary if legal review is not complete in time. The commission scheduled additional workshops and said staff would coordinate calendar postings and room availability.
