Residents urge petition to DOT after Renaissance Fair parking crowds along Route 109

The Select Board reiterated it does not have authority to post temporary signs on state roads and suggested residents petition the Maine Department of Transportation for temporary 'No Parking' orders.

Residents and board members said the fair has provided onsite parking in past years but that overflow into state roads has occurred during busier weekends. Several attendees proposed a resident petition to the DOT and coordination with the Sheriff’s office to enforce any temporary traffic restrictions if the DOT approves them. No formal enforcement action was taken by the town at the meeting.
