Cultural Arts Coalition cleared to apply for single-event liquor permits; town endorses Main Street grant

Representatives of the Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition asked the board to sign a landlord-authorization form so the nonprofit can apply to the New York State Liquor Authority for single-event permits to serve beer and wine at performances and events at Old Town Hall. "I need you to sign this," Daniel told the board when describing the landlord form that the coalition will submit with its permit application.

Board members discussed insurance, bonding and limiting authorization to the Cultural Arts Coalition as an existing tenant rather than opening the door to wider alcohol sales on town-owned properties; after staffing and attorney review they moved to waive the rules to add an action item and authorized the supervisor to sign the authorization form. The motion passed by voice vote.

Separately, the board passed a resolution endorsing the coalition's 2026 New York Main Street Downtown Anchor Project application to install a fire-exit stair at 67 Main Street. The applicant cited an estimated project cost of about $62,840 and told the board the grant would cover roughly 75% if awarded; the project is reimbursable and requires initial applicant outlay.

What happens next: the supervisor will sign the landlord-authorization form and staff will finalize lease- and facility-specific permit language; the coalition will complete its state permit application and pursue the Main Street grant as a reimbursable project if awarded.
