Parks employee safety raised after speeding near Longmeadow Road cleanup

At the July 22 meeting, Parks & Recreation Director Betsy Anderson told the Safety & Health Committee that a Parks trash/cleaning employee is concerned for his safety while working along Longmeadow Road because passing vehicles were reportedly traveling at about 60 miles per hour despite the town vehicle's flashing lights.

Chairman Kevin Dawes said he spoke with Public Works Director Nick Sidorick; Dawes reported that Mr. Sidorick is ordering two road signs with appropriate wording so the employee can deploy them during roadside trash pickup. Dawes said the employee will be given instructions on sign placement and will then have the same road-safety equipment that a DPW employee would use.
