4‑H youth showcase livestock and projects ahead of Lake County fair

Lisa Manning of OSU Extension introduced a large group of 4‑H participants and described the fair as a culmination of year‑long work. “I'm Lisa Manning, and I oversee the 4‑H youth development program from OSU Extension,” she told the board, and thanked commissioners for their ongoing support.

Multiple youth described projects they will bring to the fair: Michael Decola said he is taking a steer named Jonah and noted the auction accepts “Mastercard, Visa, American Express, checks, and cash.” Seamus Bly and Emma Taylor described lambs, pigs and other market animals and emphasized leadership and responsibility learned through 4‑H. Mark Ball and other participants outlined show schedules and the new super showmanship event. Commissioners discussed auction logistics — buyer letters, the number of poultry pens (commissioner estimate: roughly 96 pens of chickens and additional turkey pens) — and encouraged community members to attend. The commissioners dismissed the delegation after thanking them for their work and reminding the public of the small‑animal and large‑animal auction schedule.
