Commissioners ask counsel, consultant to review Bridge 137 claim before action

After hearing the presentation on the Bridge 137 claim, commissioners voted to delay any signing of a change order and instead assign a review to county counsel and the project's consultant. A commissioner moved that Justin (counsel) and Brandon (BFNS) examine the contract and INDOT correspondence; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

Brandon told the board he did not have sufficient information to recommend escalation without reviewing the agreement: "I am not sure what the agreement between Stark County and INDOT states," he said. County staff also cautioned that challenging INDOT could risk future grant relationships, a factor the board said it would weigh during counsel's review.
