Board denies several pardons, grants select paroles with program conditions at July 16 meeting

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles met July 16, 2026 at 8:47 a.m. in Montgomery and considered its regular slate of parole and pardon hearings under Alabama Code, Title 15, Chapter 22. Chair Hal Nash presided; board members Gabrelle Simmons and Jennifer Conway were present and Nicole Lewis recorded actions as board secretary.

The meeting produced a mix of unanimous denials, unanimous grants and split votes. The board denied several pardon requests and parole applications while granting pardons in a small number of cases with restrictions (for example, relief from the habitual-offender statute and firearms disabilities). Multiple paroles were approved with conditions requiring program completion or electronic monitoring. The board also voted to withdraw three Parole Officer Authorizations of Arrest and ordered the release of the individuals named by the division director because of their end-of-sentence dates.
