Board grants limited pardons in small number of cases, denies others

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles granted pardons with restrictions in several cases during its July 16 meeting. For example, Claudia C. Ringold (AIS# 290434) received a pardon with restrictions listed as 'relief from the habitual offender act and firearms disabilities.' Similarly, the board granted pardons with restrictions for Gerald Clay, Jr. (AIS# 262118) and Timothy S. Forbus (AIS# 183361). Some pardon motions were split: Darin S. Davis (AIS# 827987) received majority support from Chair Hal Nash and Member Gabrelle Simmons while Member Jennifer Conway voted to deny.

Other pardon applications were denied (for instance, David L. Hoskins, AIS# 211653, and Raymond E. Alston, AIS# 185429). Victims' representatives and a Department of Attorney General VSO were recorded as opposing some pardons. The hearing record lists each outcome and the board's vote result.
