Altamont administrator, fire and utility reports cover KDOT payments, parade, 18 incidents and meter work

City Administrator updates at the Dec. 29 Altamont meeting noted that the city received payment from KDOT covering the first two Schwab Eaton invoices tied to the sidewalk project, that year-end financial processing for 2025 is underway, and that staff processed Pete’s CMB license and participated in the Altamont Christmas Parade. The administrator also reported meeting with City Attorney Myers and Brightspeed about a pole-attachment agreement.

The Fire Report recorded 18 incidents in 21 days: 2 fire/smoke alarms, 7 medical calls, 3 structure fires, 1 public relations event (the Christmas Parade), and 5 brush/grass fires; the minutes note county commissioners approved a countywide burn ban last Monday “until further notice.” Utility and public works activity included grading roads and alleys, widening a road at the city lagoons, replacing two failed water meters, trimming trees affecting electric lines, greasing and repairing trucks, repairing picnic tables and benches, and shipping monthly water samples for testing. City Offices will be closed Jan. 1, 2026.
